ok here we go:
Athlon 500
Gigabyte 7IX
128Mb PC100 Generic RAM
IBM DJNA 371350 13,5 GB 7200rpm
Quantum Fireball 1GB
Creative Labs TNT2 M64 16MB AGP
Creative AWE 64 Value ISA
Generic NCR810xx SCSI-Controller
Plextor 12/20 SCSI-CDROM
Teac55s CDWriter
235W Powerman PS (300W-version is on AMD's list)
The Systems tuns stable like a rock until i try to access any drive on the SCSI-Chain (i still have a IDE-CDRom if you start wondering how i installed my windows).
When i try to copy data from a CDROM the SCSI-Drives reset (which you can both hear and see) and i get a BSOD (on both 9x and NT) or my system just
freezes.
I thought maybe the SCSI-Chain is not getting enough power so i changed the 235W Powerman for a cheapo 300W (just to test), but still the same problem.
So I replaced the TNT2 with my old Matrox Mystique PCI and voila: the problems dissapeared (on both PS: 235W and 300W).
I guess it is either a trouble between the AGP-Card and the SCSI-Card (i tried all PCI-Slots, didnt help) or my System needs more power (and everybody said: 300W is enough).
Or maybe i should rather get a high quality PS like the Powerman 300W version. Is there really a difference ? cause my 300W has 150W ouput (on 3,3V and 5V) and 30A on 5V, 15A on 3,3V.
That is more than the 300W Powerman has.
Does quality really matter ?
thx
