Booting problems

After detecting the hard disk and CD-Rom my computer just freezes, every thing seems to be in order. Can anyone help? My system is a PII 333 Elite P6LX-A M/Board, 128Mb Ram.

have you tried booting to a boot diskette with the hard drive disconnected? you just may have a hard drive problem.

Will it boot into safe mode to run a few diag.s?
Did you flash the BIOS lately?
What was the last system component you installed or driver you updated?
Are you running antivirus software?
What exactly is the last thing on the screen when the boot sequence stops?

I wish I could flash the bios, all it does is identify the cpu, memory etc., just after it identifies the cd-rom it freezes.
