If so you should install the ATA66 drivers you got with your computer. This will solve your problem. raz 12-17-1999, 02:55 PM I had this problem when I installed a new Maxtor drive. Had to uninstall the EZ-BIOS that the installation disk for the drive installed. After that everything was OK. DavidX 12-17-1999, 06:00 PM The EZ-BIOS always seems to cause more problems than it fixes. Don't use it! Mlope~ You may have to install the Bus Master Drivers that probably came on a CD with your motherboard. EVGTech 12-18-1999, 01:08 AM some virus's will do that also. "formA" will do this. man that virus is a pain. [This message has been edited by EVGTech (edited 12-18-1999).] Mlope 12-18-1999, 10:05 PM Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! I don't think this is a viris as my McAfee is up to date, but the EZ-BIOS bitrings a bell. I used the Western Digital version when I installed my hard drive. Will this version cause trouble too? Rookie 12-19-1999, 01:58 AM Just for kicks go into regedit and search for a noide entry. I forget exactly where its supposed to be if its in there, I think its HK LM>system>current control set>services>vxd>ios I havent done it in awhile so the above might not be accurate- just go to edit and find and search for noide. If there is a noide entry delete it and reboot. There is a MS article on this but I lost it on the last reformat reinstall. This is caused by a MS bus maseter driver that is using *no serialisation*. There are probably a few other reasons why your hdd would be using dos compability mode, this is just one of em. Rookie SysOpt.com
