You might try Pc Inspector:

If GetDataBack doesn't work then the drive is toast. I use GDB all the time on bad hard drives and I have gotten very good results with it.

You can send the drive to a data recovery vendor and spend between $500-$5000 depending on how much data you have and how badly you want to get it back.

Sounds like you shold buy a new hard drive AND a backup solution such as an external USB hard drive system and backup the entire system weekly so you won't lose anything again.

Tell me this. Why have you not been backing up your data?

You used a USB to IDE cable. Can you not see the data from the damaged drive using your PC?

If not use the Recovery Console and command and switches:

chkdsk /f/r

You will have to do this for the system partition and the partition of errors.

This will remap bad sectors. Then clone the drive rather that data recover with GDB. Use the image and extract the data from the image. An example would be to use Acronis True Image.

If the image fails you may have more success with GDB once carrying out the above.
