I just bought a Lite-On DVDRW SHW 160P6S DVD Burner. Windows will not allow me to set the Region on it. It keeps telling me I have to have Administrator Rights or have Media for Region 1.....I don't know what that means and I need to burner something very important yesterday. Can someone please help me. I also downloaded the latest driver still it won't allow me to choose Region 1. I was able to set Region one for my new DVD Rom with no problem. Please Hep me!

I did and it didn't work.....I have also tried a Region bypass patch nothing has worked. I can't even find the right driver for my Sony DW-Q120A DVD burner. I have looked all over Sonys website and others its impossible
The optical drive is a standard, so the driver will be Windows based. What you will get from Sony is a firmware update only unless you need the optical device to be seen within DOS.
Authoring software, e.g., Nero, makes a CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW writeable and rewriteable.
If you have changed the region a specified number of times, i.e., 5, then it will be region locked now.
There are ways around this though.
Is it communicating to a router, if so it is wise to get the same manufacture?
What is the NIC you are using now that is causing the problem?
Otherwise, Netgear are good. I’m not a network expert so may be post in the networking forum for a definitive answer.
