somebody help. I put the wrong speed CPU in my computer by mistake. The reason is that the manual that came with it said that it would handle it. In the manual I downloaded it says it can only handle Pentium processors up to 233MHz and I put in a celeron 400MHz processor. It crashed. Can I just change out the processor for one that it supports or is there a chance that the motherboard is burnt out? If anybody can tell me anything, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Oh, Jeepers H. Crackers !
Tell me you didn't put a socket 370 Celeron in a socket 7 board!
If so, you most likely have a dead CPU, and probably a dead mobo as well.

can you say BIG OOPS
any way your never gona know till ya try it
take the 400 back and just tell them it did not work nothing else. and get your money back then go to another shop and get the right chip and try it with the extra money form getting the right chip, you should have about enough to buy a new board if needed.
Thanks guys <:-(,
New lesson learned...quadruple check everything. I'm going to fix it the best I
can and then sulk in the corner.~sigh
