I just purchased 2 new Western Digital SATA2 hard drives. One a 250GB KS (16 MB) and one 80 GB JS (8MB). Both drives are being detected as UDMA6 in the BIOS but in Windows they appear as UDMA5. I've tried several registry procedures to no avail. Any ideas?

Sounds like a driver issue to me. Check the manufacturers website for updates.

Sorry I forgot to mention I've got all the latest drivers including up-to-date Intel Chipset drivers. I'm ready to throw this entire PC in the garbage, nothing seems to work properly and it's just a headache. I'm a certified technician and this PC becomes a hassle for me to work on more than often.

Throw it my way. I am also heavily certified and I specialize in hardware, driver, OS, and virus/spyware.
I haven't seen a system that I couldn't fix eventually. LOL

Have you tried any of these fixes yet?

Eventually is that word I hate right now... I've been working on this thing for too long, the minute I fix one problem another arises. And yes, that's one of the fixes I've tried.

There's no real performance difference between UDMA5 and 6 anyway. It's all theoretical - that's why only Maxtor and Hitachi are claiming to have UDMA6 drives. Seagate, who *owns* Maxtor, doesn't offer ATA133 drives. What does that tell you?
It's all hype. You're getting max performance now.

Download and run Everest. It will compare your drive specs.
