I have a Deskjet 9800 which I have set to default print in reverse order as I print multi page documents (usually very long documents, 50+ pages). On the road, I use an Officejet 7310, also set to print in reverse page order for the same reason.

But anything I print in Excel or Access (the only two Office apps I regularly use) refuses to print in reverse page order. No matter how I have the printer defaults set, and no matter what the printer print preview shows, the documents ALWAYS print from first page to last page.

All other programs I use will print in reverse page order without any problems.

The computer hooked up to the Deskjet 9800 specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 CPU
KVS motherboard
1024 gig RAM
Windows XP Pro, Sp2
Office 2003, SP1

The laptop is a Gateway 7326
Windows XP Home, SP2
Office 2003, SP1

Any clues how to make Office apps print in reverse page order?

Thanks.

I assume you already tried this:

Click file, page setup, sheet tab, options button, layout tab, then check the box to Start Printing from last page.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I've done that many times. I have even set the default printer options to always show a print preview. In that preview, the last page is scheduled to print first, but as soon as it starts printing, the first page comes out and in prints in front to back order rather than back to front order.

I have no clue how to fix this.

If you set both Office and your printer to reverse print, you will be countermanding yourself and end up with a normal print job.

Practice with some 2-page document. Set the printer properties to normal (not reversed) and set Office to the same. Print a 2-page job and check. If it's first on bottom, set the printer properties first to reverse.

Understand that the printer can't decide what it wants to do. If you set it to reverse, that's the way it will print and that's the way it will print *everything*. My guess is that you need to set Access and Excel to normal order and leave it that way.

Thank you.

Your suggestion seems to have worked. This problem seems to be solved.

Thanks for your help.

Or get this very handy printing app. The best I know of and use a lot is FinePrint.
