Alrighty. I cannot get my system to really work. A bunch of things are happening. Sometimes I keep getting regsvr32 errors, sometimes after win98 was installed, registry would be corrupted somehow. Also my system gave weird erros in B.Gate and Quake2, while installing. One time my system crashed, and I booted up to find my hymem.sys was missing. When I formatted and reinstalled win98, it was fine until, after the plug+pray setup and after that install, it restarted and scandisk popped up saying there were problems in the registry. Right now, I have win98 installed from a fresh boot, but I have a nice yellow (!) next to the PCI Bridge under system devices. When going to install programs, says uninstaller can't initialize. How can I get my system to work right? I think it must be some bios settings I need to change. My system is as followed:

K7500
Gigabyte SLOT A mobo
64 MEG PC133 RAM from mwave.com
IBM U/ATA 66 13.5 HD
Diamond Viper 770 Ultra

The first thing I would do is to get rid of that yellow (!) exclaimation mark next to the PCI Bridge. This indicates to a need to install drivers/patch for the chipset. These should have come on a CD along with your motherboard. Install those and any other drivers/patches you might have.

Next, in BIOS you may want to set memory timing to its slowest setting and hard disk access to a slower setting as well, just for the purpose of troubleshooting.

Finally, are you using a 300W power supply? This is strongly recommended for Athlon systems.

did you installe the AMD IDE Driver 1.22 ? and a 300W is REALLY recommended, not because of the 50W more but of the higher A (on +12V, +5V and +3.3V) that these PSs mostly have
