I'm new to computing,I seem to have a recuring problem w/programs that stop responding. I end up shuting down the system and rebooting it. 500MHz PII Celleron,PC100 mainboard,10.4gHD,128MEG PC100, WIN98& PC-cillian,McAfee virus programs. It lock's up at no certian program or action(at not that I can tell)Could it be that I need to update drivers?

I would suggest to disable the antivirus and see if it improves the situation. In addition, I would update the Explorer and install the new shut down patches. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for the video card--including AGP patches. In some instances, this is caused by overheating. Watch the computer with the case open and make sure that the fans are working correctly.

You may also check your BIOS settings to see if APM is enabled. If it is, disable it and try running the machine that way. Any "utility" programs that you are running like nuts-n-bolts or norton utilities or crash guard .... disable those things.
