Ok, this problem has me stumped. I use mail washer to check my mail, delete what ever I don't want and then use thunderbird to retrieve my mail. My problem is that I cannot connect to the pop3 server. Mail washer and thunderbird both will not connect. Its not my ISP because I used my second computer and had zero problems. I shut off both firewalls (windows and sygate) still won't connect. What else can I try? Also, the last time I ened up doing system restore to fix this, but I hate having to do that. Thanks guys.

Did you check your account settings in Mailwasher and Thunderbird?
Did you install a new antivirus?
Some AV programs create a proxy on the PC to run mail through. If you uninstall that AV program, it may not change the account settings back.
There's no substitute to "eyeballing" your account settings and checking them against what your ISP specifies.

Did you check your account settings in Mailwasher and Thunderbird? Well, I really didn't give that a thought because it was working fine yesterday, and it just happened all of the sudden.
Did you install a new antivirus? Nope, I am using anti vir free
I will diable AV and check settings.

I diable AV and checked settings, settings ok and shutting off AV did nothing. I also went into safe mode with networking, still will not connect.

Call your ISP.

Well, I did the winsock fix utility and now its working. I hate calling my ISP because I always get an idiot that knows nothing. Once we establish that I am not a noobie, they finally put a good tech on. Never call the company, they will only put you on hold." -Chip Douglas-

Wasn't there a character on "My Three Sons" named Chip Douglas?

yeah, didn't you ever see that movie, the cable guy? Jim Carry played this psycho cable guy that was needy. He told his friend that his name was Chip Douglas. Its not a well known movie, but I liked it. Especially if your older because there are tons of TV references that are old, like white shadow and bewitched. Check it out at IMDB.com

I've seen the film. He used a lot of film character names. Funny stuff!
