If it's disabled, try enabling it. lost1 12-15-1999, 02:59 PM Socalgal- I checked the video ram cache and it was enabled- but video BIOS shadowing was disabled (as per usual) so I enabled it & tried running the demo, but it crashed again. I have one nerve left and this problem is plucking on it like a banjo http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif HEEEELLLLP.... ANYONE...... Wonder 12-15-1999, 08:12 PM Actually, I think both those settings should be *disabled* with a Voodoo3 card. My Voodoo3 2000 manual states to disable video caching and shadowing. Have you tried that? Mntsnow 12-15-1999, 09:21 PM Whoo. At 3dMarks website for mark2000 they have this to say about the Voodoo3's 3DMark2000 FAQ - 3Dfx 3D ACCELERATORS 3Dfx Voodoo3 Q: Voodoo3 2000/3000/3500 crashes occasionally in benchmark/demo A: There is a bug in Voodoo3 drivers that may cause a crash in P3/Athlon machines. 3Dfx is aware of this and the problem should be fixed in driver releases after 1.03.04. 3Dfx Voodoo2 Sorry, This FAQ section is still under construction 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee Tested with Windows 98SE, K6-III 450MHz, 3DNow! Optimizations, Driver Kit 1.03.04. No problems detected Mntsnow from what I found out for a "workaround" for my P3-450 is instead of using the pIII core (which is the default setup) is to change it to the d3d T&L configuration. That is how I was finally able to post my systems resualts in the 3dmark2000 benchmark thread http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Mntsnow (edited 12-15-1999).] lost1 12-15-1999, 09:47 PM Wonder- I tried disabling both but no joy. Thanks for the input though http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Mntsnow- I saw the FAQ you quoted but wasn't sure if it would apply to K6/2's. I'll try what worked for you & see what happens. Thanks! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif lost1 12-15-1999, 10:33 PM SUCCESS! Mntsnow you saved my last nerve! I changed to D3D/TL and it runs like a champ. A hearty thumbs up to you my friend http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Now I gotta go compare my results to everyone else's to see if I need to pitch my Voodoo & upgrade... Thanks everyone for the help! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif Mntsnow 12-15-1999, 10:48 PM http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif Glad it got you going! The demo runs about 30 seconds then locks the computer up hard- "Reset" time. The benchmark does the same thing. I had no install problems- put it on 4 systems. 2 w/Savage 4 cards & 2 w/Voodoo3 3000 cards. The Savage cards run like a champ, both Voodoo's crash. Latest 3DFX drivers & DirectX 7 installed, Win 98 SE, AMD K62/450 on Soyo 5EMA+ board w/128Mb PC100, and AMD K62/500 same specs as 450 but on Epox MVP3G5. Tried with CPU's and video cards OC'd and non-OC'd- no difference either way. I am completely baffled. Anyone got any ideas? SysOpt.com
