I just installed my new ASUS P5A and things have gone really well. My TNT2 card is rockin' and rollin'.
Anyway, here's the problem. I put 2 HD's on my primary IDE controller and it takes FOREVER to make it past the BIOS post and to begin to start loading windows. It literally takes over 1 minute to finish posting. It detects the drives right away, no problem there. After it detects the drives, it just sits there and does nothing for about a minute, then it acts like it's going to load windows, and sits at that next screen for another 15-20 seconds. Once in Windows, everything is fine. It seems to me that it's taking WAY too long to get past post.
I have tried a lot of combinations of drives...maxtor, seagate, quantum. I've tried them in different arrangements, nothing helps. I've tried 2 of the same type drive and that doesn't help. They're jumpered correctly, master and slave. I've also tried both "auto" and "user defined" in the BIOS setup and neither help. I've taken my CD-ROM drive off the secondary IDE channel and that didn't help.
The only thing that helps is either using just 1 drive, or moving the second drive to the secondary IDE channel.
Any ideas? I want to get 2 drives working on the primary channel so I can add 2 drives on the secondary.....
Thanks
