I am slowly making a list of components for my new computer. It will be Athlon based. I am kind of confused about all the different types of memory available.

I saw Hitachi 128MB PC-100 6ns SDRAM memory for $179, and in the same store I saw Micron 128MB PC-133 8ns SDRAM memory for $199.

Which one is better? How important are brand names and which are good? How important is the "ns" number?

Thanks for the help!

ns (nanoseconds) is the speed at which the RAM operates the lower the better. Normal PC-100 runs around 8-10ns depending on the quality of the RAM in comparasion with 72pin SIMMS that runs at 60-70ns.

Micron RAM chips are known for their incredible quality and due to that the experienced overclocker always know that this is an added plus since you can push the RAM farther more easilly.

If the Hitachi RAM indeed is 6ns then it should run without any problem with the Athlon and on FSB at 133MHz. As for Micron you can't go wrong and the price does pays off if you wish to overclock any time.
