Is there really a difference between serial ATA and SATA HD's??

I am looking at a Maxtor 300G SATA II 7200RPM 16M Buffer Hard Drive

If you are buying a new drive, get SATA because that will be the standard going forward.

....make sure if swapping out that your mobo supports that size drive, SATA power and cable connectors different and set BIOS to see it - usually a part in there that tells you to "see" the drive as IDE if you're simply replacing one drive and not using raid, which would mean using the driver disk that came with the mobo?

mobo specs?
