My mobo (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe) has three ports for my high speed Internet (SBC/ AT& T pro [6 megs per second downloads]) to connect with:

1394 Net Adapter
3Com 3C920B-EMB Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller
NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

Does it matter which one I plug into? I'd like to plug in one and disable the other two in bios so if there is a performance difference amongst the three options I'd love to know, thanks!!

the 1394 is for firewire networking, so definitely not that one.

The NF network would be native to the chipset, so it should be better than the PCI based 3Com.

Though I know 1394 is for firewire, for some reason I thought as it was under my Network connections, it was something I could blug my DSL into... so silly of me. :)

Well, both the 3COM and the Nvidia NForce options are integrated onto the mobo so none are actually PCI slot based. Both "work" fine but I don't know which one is faster... why are there two anyway? What could one do with two Internet lines plugged in at the same time?

just because they are onboard doesn't mean one isn't tied to the PCI bus.

I already told you, use the NF port.

you cannot do dualnet to shotgun the lines. only 570 and 590 boards can do it.
