Eli 12-13-1999, 08:11 PM I believe the process to play an imported or a backup CD is as follows: 1. Boot Playstation without a CD 2. Go to the CD player 3. Insert a standard Playstation CD 4. Leave the door open and push down the little button to the back and to the right of the CD. You'll have to find a way to keep this pressed without closing the door (or to close the door without letting up on the button) 5. The standard Playstation will spin up and then come to a stop. When it stops, remove it and replace it with the backup or import CD. You have to keep that button pressed for your entire session. Be warned that I have not actually tried this process myself, and I heard a few years ago that Sony somehow defeated this trick on later model Playstations (but I doubt that). And to cover my own **** I tell you this so that you can play backups of your own games. Good luck and do not let this info fall into the wrong hands... (ahem...lol) Banti 12-14-1999, 05:40 AM Regarding the copies of Playstation games... If I remember correctly, the first few bytes of the header are errors. These errors are on the hardware level not software level, so you CDR/CDRW cannot reproduce them. Even if it could most CDR/CDRWs do NOT copy errors from one CD to another. My guess is that the game manufactors must buy special CDs from Sony. ParaDeath 12-14-1999, 10:34 AM Yes you can Burn playstation CD's You need: 1. A mod Chip in the PS, Get it at: www.modchip.com (http://www.modchip.com) 2. A program called CDRWIN 3. A blank CD CDRwin will copy the playststion cd, But it will not copy the protection.. Thats where the modchip comes in it allows you to play copied PS CD's. A friend of mine does it and it werks perfect. Got to www.modchip.com (http://www.modchip.com) for more info BTW: USE this to backup games that you purchased from a store! DON'T PIRATE! shaggy2dope 12-14-1999, 02:07 PM thanks everyone for replying i was going to use this for backup only. i will try the mod chip Bleeding Edge 12-14-1999, 10:27 PM The use of a Game Enhancer cartridge may be easier for you. Just plug it into the port in back of the PSX. SysOpt.com
