After much consternation I've decide to go with this setup:
ASUS Crosshair AM2
AMD 64X2 4000+
2g OCZ Platnum DDR2
2x BFG 7900 GTX
OCZ 700Watt Gamestream PSU
The parts are on the way and I am trying to get set to make the change over.
My major question is about the motherboard bios. Will it recognize the dual core?
I've been on the ASUS site today and downloaded the latest bios for the Crosshair, but I'm not sure how to install it. The site say's you need to RTFM to find out the proper method for this board, but I can't download the manual for some reason ( I think their having server trouble )
The bios is way to big to put on a floppy so I'm at a loss here.
Any help will be greatly appriciated!

After a little more research I've found that the bios for the Crosshair MB has not been updated. So my hope is that it will boot with no prob
I am still open to comment.

even if it doesnt have the support for dual core right out of the box, it should still recognize atleast one of the cores.

Got all my new stuff!! :D
I set it up to bench test before I take the old stuff out of the case. Everything seems to work except that it stops at CMOS ERROR. I'm thinking this is just because it's not hooked up to a hard drive. Should I hook one up, or just go ahead with the install?

Bummer!
Bench test went ok, the lcd on the back kept stopping at cmos err, but I suppose that was because I had inadvertantly hit the clear cmos button as I was changing the jumper. Once I got it in the case though it would start and run for about 2 seconds and shut down. The lcd stoped a the first post (CPU INT) which I think means something is wrong with the new chip. I took it back out of the case to make sure it wasn't shorting out, but got the same results. Any ideas before I order RMA this X2? I have a few 939 chips laying around, but they don't do me any good with this AM2 board.
Help:eek:

Have you tried starting it up with the bare minimum,: cpu, one stick of ram and the video card?

Yup, when I bench test I always go with the minimum.

:D Got it going! I'm now in the prosess of setting it up. The overclocking options are amazingly detailed. This is not a plug and play board
But it's mine now and I'll have some fun with it. I just need to have it tweaked out in time for the release of Crysis.
Any advice on setting up this board, and the X2 would be greatly appriciated.
