Pantion 12-12-1999, 03:13 PM If the ATI software doesn't have an option to disable it by itself well you can try this, but if the program adds features (which I suppose it does or why the heck would it be loaded? ) you are going to loose them. Look for a shortcut on the START-PROGRAMS-StartUp folder on the Start Menu. If it is there just delete it. Now if it isn't there you'll have to remove it from the registry. Use regedit.exe or any other Registry editor you preffer and go to here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run And delete the ATI program from there. NOTE: Remember that if that program adds features that you use or the video card needs then removing it will make you loose such features or get unwanted results... so be carefull AND SPECIALLY WITH THE REGISTRY MAKE A BACKUP FIRST! mattheadfat 12-13-1999, 04:50 PM yeah, it's not on the startup menu, i checked that right away, i'm pretty sure there's an option, anybody have an ati card know? chuckiechan 12-13-1999, 05:39 PM Yes... go: Start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/tools/system configuration utility/start-up tab (whew!) Then un-check what is in your way. You can manage your tool tray from here. I found no use for mine either, I think it's an in-your-face deal, to imprint their logo in your brain!! Good luck.... GroundZero3 12-14-1999, 06:28 PM I got an Ati card too and it came up too. if you go into the display in your control panel click on the settings tab and then at the bottom it sayz advance click on it. its right there, you have to uncheck it. GrounDZero3 Dave_H 12-14-1999, 07:44 PM Groundzero3's sugesstion will turn of the settings icon (looks like a little T.V.) To turn off the stupid, compleatly worthless icon that looks red with a white ATI on it. Go to where chuckiechan pointed (bla, bla, bla,....start-up tab) and turn off AtiPTA. For a temporary turn-off under controll/alt/delete, the same thing is called Atiptaaa.exe I've done it under ctrl/alt/del many times and everthing works fine, I almost positive it just controls the icon and nothing else with the card.
