I am using Pentium PC 133 Mhz, 32MB ram with win95 software.I recently added 48x creative cd rom drive. I am having two hard disks 1.2 Gb and 4.2 gb. When I am using cd ROM I am frequently having problem of cannot write in to drive d, or cannot write into drive c. When i am using 32x cd rom I have not faced this problem. I have to run scan disk to get recognised drive d.

How do you have you system setup? What is master, slave do you have the CD setup on it's own IDE port or is it slaved to one of the drives?

Yep, Butchk was on the right trail, first check your master/slave settings for the drives. I don't know how your system is setup, but if you have dual onboard IDE use it rather than trying to connect the the IDE controler of a soundcard - that can cause some problems.

Another thing you might check, if you loaded a DOS drivers disk with the CDROM, I would suggest that you edit your config.sys and autoexec.bat files and remove or comment out the lines that refer to your CDROM - Win95 does not need a DOS level driver.

Use the CD Rom on the 2ndary IDE as either the Master or Slave Drive. When it is hooked to the same IDE as the Hadr Drive it slows the HD down
