I run a small network (20 users) for our school. We use SBS 2003 with exchange, etc. For our IE, we have a group policy that directs IE to use our home intranet page as the homepage default. One of our teachers brought in a laptop (XP Pro) to use in her classroom and join the domain. I was able to join the domain and everything seems to work fine, except I can't get IE to load the local homepage as default. It always starts with msn.com or (at one point) it was compaq.aol.com.

I have tried to reset the home page in IE tools, and have run gpupdate from the command prompt, but no help. I even disabled the Norton Internet security firewall on the laptop to see if that was the problem....still no help.
With other computers we added to the domain, they all recognized the group policy and went right to the intranet homepage. Why not this one??

Help, please! thanks. Is this an issue with Norton/Symantec? (On our network, we use Symantec corporate edition, not the version for individual pc's.)

Sound more like a browser hijack to me.

Try running Adware Away to see if it finds the culprit.
