Can I upgrade XP Home to XP Prof?

My present OS in Toshiba Notebook is XP home edition.

Can I upgrade directly to XP prof. (SP2) without formatting my HD?

look at the link to his other thread. there are system problems and he is trying to fix it by upgrading/overwriting with xp pro.
