I mainly use IE and Firefox.. but have used Avant in the past....

Just thought i'd add another browser to check it out... I'm liking it so far. Very fast and smooth... some nice added placement of needed features..and tools.. and i like the tabbed browsing..., somethng that IE lacks which really urks me the most about IE... ( why have they not fixed this?? ) ;)

So does Netscape 8
IE is still playing catch up with everybody
else as to features and security issues

I do not know of specific issues, but IE7 will overwrite your IE6. read the release notes first.

Rabbitrunner51 .. how much space does the download
and install of Avant take up ? ? The setup.exe
is only about 1.2mb but sometimes, all that does
is download the rest of the program.

I might try it and see how it compares to Firefox
and Opera .. by the way, while I know Netscape 8
has tabs, I haven't tried that version at this time.

Avant was the 1st tabbed browser I tried. Was rather unstable back then (2.5 yrs ago). I switched to MyIE2 which then became maxthon because it was more stable, at least on my systems.

Pretty sure you are alone, dude. So you like having a bunch of apps open in your taskbar?

I have about 30 news/tech sites that i visit on a daily basis. I just middle click on the bookmark folder in FF and they ALL open in tabs. Try that with IE6.

BruceB.. I'd check it out....The browser so far has no issues i could think of..

Its fast...;even faster then the other two. Looks and acts much the same as IE,but is more oraganized in the way of all the options located in a nice bar up top.. ,which is almost similar to the IE main upper options bar.. Each category like tools, menu, navigation, groups, favorites, and windows shows a nice clear listing of whatever you want to do... Just looks and cats clean..throughout...

About tabbed browsing: it also has a feature for returning to what you opened before upon re-entereing the browser, and it you ant tabbed browsing or not. It also has a popup blocker to boot.

It seems that they took the bast of IE and Firefox and put them into one browser...

The author of Avant also has a version that works with the gecko engine. I forgot what it's called now (was a very odd name) but I know there is one.

No, that's been around quite a while. Anderson Che, who wrote Avant, also has another version of it that uses the Gecko engine, but I can't recall the name.

Dr. Orca it was called I think. Or maybe that was just the development name...

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! No more calls please.

Yep, that's it alright. Dr. Orca. A nonsensical name if there ever was one.
