I added a Promise SATAII PCI card and installed the WD Raptor and have rebuilt WinXP Pro. Now, I'd like to hookup my old 120GB IDE drive as secondary/slave so I can move my data, etc. off of it and onto my new hard drive. However, I'm not certain of how to be sure it sees the SATA drive as primary and boot from it ... and NOT boot from my 120 GB IDE drive (since it was my boot drive previously).

Suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

You will have to go into the BIOS and set the SATA drive as first boot HD and the other as secondary.

since your board didn't have SATA to begin with, you'll probably have to use "SCSI" as your primary boot. some boards say "bootable add-in card" also.

If that doesn't work, get an external USB hard drive enclosure ($20) and hook the drive up thru a USB port to transfer the data. Then you will also have a nice file sharing system for later.

Thanks -- I was able to set my old hard drive up as 2nd boot device as suggested and it worked luckily! Appreciate the info!
