in my travels around ebay - looking at cheap hardware n stuff - i saw one for an ata 66 cable. in the description, it said that you will get a speed benefit, just by using an ata 66 cable. now, my hard drive is ata 66, but my mobo is an abit bh6, which is only ata33. my question is, will using an ata 66 cable give me a speed/performance boost, even tho my mobo is only ata 33?

Sorry, but they were probably pulling your chain to get more sales.

Yep yep......if your buslines are only able to push 33 then hooking up a faster cable to a faster hd will make no matter. Kinda like if your on a t1 line downloading from a 56k modem....youll only be able to receive as fast as that modem will be able to send. Common sense I know but I though I'd at least put my 2 cents in! If it makes ya feel any better Im in the same boat http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The only thing that cable will give you is better data integrity due to the increased number of cables reduceing crosstalk. And I really wouldn't think it would be worth the effort.
