Hello,

A couple of days ago, I purchased Madden NFL 07. But there's an issue...a huge issue in my opinion.

The game was designed with the stand PC dual analog gamepad in mind - the Logitech Rumple Pad 2. In thinking in terms of a PlayStation 2 controller, button 1 is square, button 2 is X, button 3 is circle, and button 4 is triangle.

However, my controller, an actual PS2 controller on a PS2 to USB converter, is different. More specifically, it's backwards. My top button, triangle, is recognized as button 1. The circle is recognized as button 2 and so on.

In previous installments, users could go into the controller configuration within the game and change one layout - say for instance the rushing - and it would change throughout the game. But this year's is different. Though I can change the post-snap commands, choosing a formation, play, etc goes by the button values themselves.

My question is, can I change my device's button layout [within Windows' Registry] to match that of a Logitech Rumble Pad?

Right now, I went into the registry and changed the OEMName of my controller. Instead of "Xinga USB Macro v2003", I changed it to "Logitech Rumblepad 2 USB". Madden detected it accordingly, but, unfortunately, the button mapping is the same.

Additional Details:
Actual Controller: PlayStation 2 Gamepad using Xinga 2003 PS2 to USB Adapter
From my registry, what appears:

Thanks for any help anyone can advise!

i know that with saitek games you can change the buttons as they come wiht software for doing it, however with other controllers I do not know. I found a tutorial for a soccergame, not sure if this will help you much tho.

you can change the bottons with the logitech profiler software on logitech's site

you can also make a botton perform a macro (series of combos performed with the press of a single botton)

yeap you can change the buttons assigments in the GamePad utility of Logitech, and some conditionals changes as well via the Windows Control panel for the GamePad, if you don't have the software from Logitech

Unfortunately, even after chaning my gamepad in the registry, the Logitech software won't recognize it. :(

I might be off on this, but I kind of get the feeling it has to do with the drivers for the converter/gamepad. I extracted the drivers from the Logitech .exe file and tried installing them. Unfortunately, I keep receiving the "Does not contain any information about your hardware" message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I had a quick question. Where in the registry did you find all those Values. I have been searchng the registry for them and can't find anything like that. I have a Generic USB to PSX converter I got from Radio Shack. I too just loaded up Madden to find out that the mapping is different in-game from previous versions. So if you could point in the right direction of folders (in the registry) to look in that would be great, just to see if may there is a way to change the mapping that way.

Sorry to get your hopes up. But, When I had changed the registry values and went into the Advanced options of my GamePad the buttons were switched around - Square 1, X 2, and so on. But when I loaded up Madden they were switched around again and after messing with the registry and trying I can't get it to go back. But, I have found something out that is a little annoying but it works. I am pretty sure you have already done this but just to say it again. In all the GamePad options in Madden ONLY switch these 4 around and leave everything else alone. Do this for ALL the configs for Passing, Rushing, ect. Just change it from 1, 2, 3, 4 to 4, 3, 2, 1 and leave everything else alone. So for all the configs it will look like 4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. All the controls will be like its meant to be that way except for when picking plays. When you pick a play it will still be 1, 2, 3 so its not the exact layout but as for actually playing the game it will feel like its supposed to like X is pass, kick, ect. O is go to nearest player. Square is dive and Triangle is Catch and so on.

It's a bit of a roudn about way of doing things, but i've remapped unmappable game controls using an application called joytokey. Its basically means to allow you to map keyboard commands to joypad buttons, for games that dont have any sort of joypad support.

In the past with titles such as Speedball 2 where the controsl cant be remapped, all i've done is mapped keyboard keystroke commands to buttons on a joypad - voila!

Bit long winded but it might work
