What can be wrong? It started suddenly two weeks ago!
When I attempt to shut down Win98SE I get a message: "Run time error R6009 - not enough space for environment", "Press any key to continue...".
After pressing, it shuts down.
Any suggestions? I really appreciate the help.

Have you checked to make sure that your hard-disk is not full (or close to it)?

Could be that as Windows98 attempts to write its logoff event to the hard-drive, there is not enough space to do so. NOTE: even if there appears to be some free space on the disk, the swap file may be using that, so windows will not count it as available.

As a general rule, I think you should have at least 200MB of free disk space on your root drive at a minimum.
