Hi there,

I got a problem for setting the resolution and like selecting the size of the screen like 800X600 or somethings else.
In addition, I can only login as root, I can't login as myself even though I have keyin the only 2 password that I typed in during installation.
I have 3 partition for Redhat,
Swap(300MB), Boot(16MB), and root(1500MB).
Thanks for any help !!

Regards,
Mark

I have the same problem with the screen resolution, but after reinstalling like 50 times, at least I have a screen.

You can try running Xconfigurator to reselect your video card and video settings. If you run startx and end up with a giant screen where the windows seem bigger than the desktop, it's probably using defaults and your running at something 320x240. As far as I've found, that means it doesn't like your video card chose. See if you can get linux drivers from your card's web site.

To add a user enter adduser xxxxx
and then passwd xxxxx
and it will prompt you for the password for the xxxxx user you created. You can do it all in one command with adduser, but I can't get that to work either. /forum/frown.gif

As you can see, I'm brand new at this also. So if I gave you incorrect info, someone please give both of us better answers.

I had the same problem at first. But I discovered a nice shell utility in either the etc/bin or /sbin directory. When you run this it allows you to test you screen with various setings and even allows you to adjust your screen size etc. Try it. I am doing this from a Library terminal. When I get back home I will try and post the utility name for you.
