Ok some short background. I just recently moved into an off campus apartment for college and "High speed" internet was included as a part of the package. I don't know the specifics of the networking but i've got a CAT 5 ethernet cable going from my comp to the wall and its running slow as hell. My computer is completely clean, brand new, I havent touched a website that would give me any kind of notable spyware or virus. And just to make sure i've already run adaware, Norton and Housecall several times just for kicks. I've talked to the company and they just give me some bull about "peek times" and what not. But even at "peek times" the connection shouldn't be basically unusuable.(took 3 minutes to load this very page)

Really need some help with this guys :-/

Thanks.

A not fully protected PC can be infected within 30 minute of connecting to an internet connection even if you did not go to a single website.

Try Adware Away, Counterspy, and Spybot.

Ok I got all 3 of those. Spybot found nothing, counterspy found 2 things and adware away found none. Connection speed is still terrible. The lease agreement for the apartment says users should have 300kbps or better and i'm getting barely 15kbps. Any other advice?

Check with the others in the apartment.
