GA-5AX Rev 4.1 Bios 1.3(supposedly the most stable....lol)
Anyone have any suggestions for getting this board to run open GL with a TNT2 (V770)?
I have tried all the tricks (latest ALI drivers, various TNT2 drivers) but the computer still locks at anything better than
512 on OpenGl
My ATI expert 128 could do 800 x 600 without locking on this board, but 1024 caused occasional locks.
The problem seems to be that the board cannot provided enough voltage (that's what I've heard people say).
300 watt powersupply, in case you were going to ask.
Needless to say, I don't recommend this motherboard.
I emailed Gigabyte, but I don't expect anything to come from that (I've heard alot of bad things about their customer support.)
Do not bother with these boards, especially if you are using AGP. This one has been nothing but trouble.
Note: I don't seem to crash on 2D, it is only on OpenGL (Final Reality, Q2) that I have major problems. After using it for a while, the screen does flicker slightly though.
Also, a little square thingy with three metal prongs, right next to the battery next to the AGP slot gets very, very hot (too hot to touch.) Is this the voltage regulator on the board? I've heard that this is the problem with these. Would an itty bitty heat sink help? (anything to make this $%#@ piece of #$%@ work...sorry about that, lost control there for a second.)
