Just ordered the now discontinued 3Com 3CRWE554G72TU Wireless Router/Access Point to setup and test for a wireless LAN option at work for training. We have a couple laptops which I can use to test connectivity, etc.

However, we will be using Dell Desktops primarily. I'm interested in using WPA and MAC address filtering. Can anyone recommend a good an compatible desktop wireless card to use in desktop computers for this 3Com unit?

I am not sure if the standard belkin, linksys, dlink, etc. card and/or USB key will work with this setup or not. Any help is appreciated.

I usually go with a linksys or dlink. I avoid belkin like the plague. USB tends to be more flaky also.

MK -- so, you think one of the regular consumer level brands will work fine? I assume I need to ensure that the particular card I choose is WPA enabled correct? I am somewhat partial to dlink and netgear lately. I, too, have had problems with belkin ... and also some linksys stuff over the past couple of years.

Dlink should be fine. Most of the cards will support WPA nowadays. As always, take a look at the specs and the manual on the manufacturer's website before you buy.

Thanks MK -- I'll look at the Dlink models in that case.
