Hi guys,
I am having trouble with Micrsoft update. Seems as though I can download all of the updates, but I cannot get the ones for Office to install. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

Thanks

did you try doing an update from the office update site? do you have your office cd in the drive?

I've tried from the site itself, but not with the cd in the drive. I'll try that next

Is your installed Office Genuine? As in store bought cd?

If you go by the letter of the law, you cannot install Office on more than one PC. Ridiculous? Maybe, but that's the law.

The CD *must* be in the same drive (letter) that you installed from in order to update. If you read the prompts at Office Update, you'll note that it asks if the installation files are present and offers a switch to get it to stop asking that question. If you check that box and go on without the CD, the update will fail until you put the disk in the drive.

What I do is to copy the Office CD to a hard drive and install it from there so that I don't have to dig out the CD to do updates.

Actually...on 2003 (Maybe Office XP) you have the option of doing the "Full" install.
I know it takes up more space...but, in today's average 200GB plus hard drive, big deal.
The first time I run updates, it asks if you have the CD media present, and if you check yes by default, it will have the files it needs on the hard drive already from the full install.

I've found that if you just do a typical installation, alot of the addins you may use for Outlook (import/export filters) need to be installed from the CD later on...might as well get the full monty...:)

Thanks for all of your responses, I was able to get it done by installing the complete cd, and then it worked like a charm. Again thanks.
