Hi,
first of all my system:
Athlon 500
Gigabyte 7IX v.F1
128MB Generic PC 100
Gigabyte GA-660 (TNT2|no ultra) .. latest BIOS installed .. NO o/c done yet
IBM DJNA-371350 13,5GB 7200 U/min
Quantum Fireball 1080 1GB
NCR 8100 SCSI-Controller
Teac CDR55s CD-Writer (SCSI)
Toshiba XM6102B CD-Rom (IDE)
Relisys AVEC II S3 Scanner + ISA SCSI-Interface Card
old AWE 64 Value ISA
Logitech Cordless Desktop
Iiyama 19" Vision Master 450
Lunar TX250WCE - PowerSupply (not on AMDs list)
Ok here is my problem, it really drives me mad:
I installed Win98 on C: (FAT16), everything runs fine, no problems (using Nvidia Detonator 3.62). I had
some graphic problems with Gigabyte's GA-660 Drivers (v1.01, latest)), but now with 3.62 everything runs great.
Then i installed NT4 Workstation on another partition (E: FAT16), no problems during the install.
First of all i installed FAT32 support for NT (from sysinternals) cause one of my partitions uses FAT32.
Ok reboot. No problems. Then i tried to install the Display Drivers:
I tried Gigabytes GA-660 Drivers (v1.01). system reboots. After the reboot i tried to change the
Display Settings, but whatever i try (Resolution/Color Depth) i got the blue NT-Debug Screen and this is wht it tells me:
[*** STOP:0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED *** Adress f9944382 has base at f994200 - nv4_disp.dll].
Ok i thought, GA-660-Drivers not working, I tried the newest NT-Detonators (3.53). But they even dont want to install (i removed the GA-660's before trying)
install, they give me error code 10. Ok next try: Detonators 2.08, same problem as the GA-660's.
Ok i read the readme.txt that comes with the drivers and it tells me Service Pack 3 must be installed.
Ok i installed Service Pack 4, but then NT doesnt want to boot anymore (it just hangs on the blue screen when NT tries to boot).
I reseted NT with the Rescue Disk and tried to install Service Pack 4 FIRST, before installing anything else. Same thing happens, Nt hangs on the
blue screen. Next i formated the NT-Partition and installed NT4 again, but now after the first reboot i immediately installed Service Pack 6.0 (not a).
NT hangs again on the blue screen. I've already reinstalled NT about 4-5 times using different combinations but nothing works.
Whenever i install ServicePack 4 or 6.0 NT hangs on the blue screen. I've tried the change nearly all BIOS-Settings. nothing works. I've pulled out the second HD/CDWriter etc. Nothing helps.
I had a v550 (TNT1 PCI) before, everything worked PERFECT. But unfortunately the card aint working anymore (extreme-tweaking).
So if anyone has an advise it will be welcome. I've really become mad cause of reinstalling NT4 about 5 times yet.
I've really tried everything, but nothing helps. It cant be the 250W-PS, because 98 works fine. I've also pulled some parts out
(HD, CDWRiter etc.) to give the system more power, but it didnt help, so it obviously must be sth. else.
THX in advance, ANY advise/answer is welcome.
