Okay the log file process:

If you find the whatever.log then is most likely that you can uninstall with unwise.exe
or unwise32.dll. Just run it and look for the *.log file and it will show the uninstall notification.

If its a *.isu file then you must click on the START menu, click on RUN and write:

C:\WINDOWS\IsUninst.exe -f"C:\Whatever Directory the Program is Installed\Uninst.isu" -c"C:\Whatever Directory the Program is Installed\uninstall dll.DLL"

The uninstall dll is commonly named: Uninst.dll or something similar like: _ISNU.DLL. Sometimes I have not used the dll and still works. So if you don't know which file could be try it without it anyway.

Whoa now, don't get to complicated. If the program shows up in the Add/Remove programs, remove it from there. Many programs will give you the (can't remove all the components automatically). But all it will leave on your system is the folder it installed in with some personal user info in it, just delete that folder after doing the uninstall.

Oppss... forgot... Johnny is right... did ya tried to delete the folder instead of using Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel? If so search for the program there before trying all the stuff I wrote before... thanks for the memory refresh Johnny!

I recently tried a couple of ftp program demo's, and after the trial period expired I tried to uninstall them. I get a message saying something to the affect that some of the program could not be removed automatically. I reinstalled and tried again with same result. Apparently these things stick something in the registry somewhere that is not removed. Help! I don't like the idea that after I try these programs out I can't get them off my drive. Thanks for any input...

You can try different things:

1. Use an uninstall program like Clean Sweep or any of your preference.

2. Remove the program and manually remove all traces of it from the registry (quite dangerous, slow and boring).

3. Look for the log file of the application (normally called something.log or something.isu) and use it to unistall the program manually or through window's or the application's unistall programs (for this there is a process if you want to try it then I'll post it).

Yes,I have deleted the folder. I know that there are remnants because if I reinstall and try to run it gives me the "time expired" message for running the demo. Thats why I think it has plugged something into the registry which I can't find. I purchased WTP and don't want Cute or Coffee Cup on my drive anymore. It bugs me that they encode something that is uninstallable..

The Time expired has to do with a Registry setting. If you are comfortable with editing the registry just do a search for the software's name and then also for the software manufacturers name and delete those entries. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I saw on call for help a week ago a similar topic about progs that install a file somewhere that makes it so you cant re install it to get around the time out of the shareware... basically what was said was that you can search all you want and you most likely will not find where it is or even what it is (but you could get lucky..) because it was intended to protect the license of the prog so it would most likely be given a name and file extension that wouldn't be out of the ordinary and might not even have a registry entry that you could find and just delete...I dont know if this helps you any but you could look it up at ZDnet to see the exact info on this problem to clarify it more than I could....

It's too late for some, but on zdnet I saw a small prog called "no-expire" supposed to interrupt the time out..
