Hi, i've just set up a small home net consisting of 2 pcs running xp home, connected via a router.

I've set them both to file sharing, but i want both pcs to be able to see each others whole hard drive so that i have complete access.

Is this possible?

thanks

just open my computer and right click on the drive. you'll have to specify a new share name, but it can be done.

Sharing the entire drive is NOT a good idea even if you are an expert computer technician.

One wrong key press and you will give yourself hours of troubleshooting pleasure.

Only share those folders that you need.

When you delete something over the network, it does not go to the recycle bin; it is permanently deleted.

Thanks for the help.

What could go wrong with one key press?

Accidently coping 100 gigs from one machine to another comes to mind....

Enabling file share "can" help expose you to the outside world. The more you share, the more you expose yourself.

You could delete the gigs of system files, or overwrite new updates with older versions exposing yourself to viruses and spyware, or you could delete important data or programs that you no longer have a second opy of, or, or, or....

hmm....you can do one thing use vnc and access both systems sittin at one. You get to see each of their desktops too.

and switch between desktops and share what you want to, when you want to and unshare when you want to, over network. lol sounds interesting !

Map the root of the drive in admin. account, and you would have complete access.
