I have tried everything I can think of and suggested by valve software to run halflife 2 game. my computer is an inspiron 1505/ T2300,1.66ghz duocore "yonah"
processor. intel 945gm chipset with 950 grahics accelerator. video spec. 8mb on chip /224mb available thru ram./ 1.5ghz ddr2 pc5300 sodimms /667mhz FSB.
The game will run until the next segment of game is loaded when it loads it trips the windows error reporting and shuts down and I,ll have to restart. I have tried increasing my ram from 1g to 1.5/ increasing the paging file/using a memory washer that ran every minute/running in safe mode,"didn,t work at all with basic drivers" running selective startup and shutting down various system functions. changing from dell drivers, to intel, to microsoft. running the game in the lowest possible resolution and screen size.
Heres the interesting thing according to valve sofware it only needs 512mb ram to run, however I am monitering the system memory using task manager and It will be near 400mb and then loads the next section and crashes taskmanager reports that I have 800mb available but either the system wont allocate it to the game or visa versa. the increase from 1g to 1.5g of ram did improve some stability however I get to a point in the game where it wont even load the upcoming section without crashing immediatly. Oh also I tried deleting the games cache storage thimking that it was loading every thing up to that point that didn't work either.I contacted valve software about it and they gave me the driver run around. I tell you the game engine might be better than activision but activision has excellent custumer support. thanks for letting me pick your brains, suffolkpo

Hiya,
I believe the on-board video may be your problem.

Swipped from another forum: (same problem)
"I'd suggest upgrading your motherboard's chipset driver and also your video driver and see if that helps, ultimately you should be thinking along the lines of a dedicated video card for playing game on that machine."

Is you integrated video DirectX7 compatible?

Also found elswhere:
"There is one big issue that has been reported a bit, and that is that with the Intel Integrated GMA 950 graphics chip, HL2 crashes on saves and autosaves."

I also suggest installing a real video card in your system and giving it a try.
Good Luck!
