Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Finding executable files

I have a Logitech Media Clavier Multimedia keyboard. The enclosed paper and CD provided little or no help. The operation is really self explanatory when using it as all one has to do is highlight a picture logo on the keyboard and then press the correct key that provides the required function; or enter the executable file.
My problem is with programming "Find." Using the mouse I open it by first pressing Start, then pressing the Search tab and finally pressing the For Files or Folders tab. None of these tabs will register in the key press section for programming. Therefore, I must enter the executable file for this process. Would anyone know how I can locate this file?

Um - F3 is already "search" by default. You don't need to program another key.

Bill: Thanks for the fast reply. F3 will only search for something within the page you have on a screen. Not quite what my tab clicks listed will do. For example if I wanted to open the registry I would put "regedit" as the item to find. This can not be accomplished with F3.

All you need to do is type regedit in the Run dialog. It's a registered program.
F3 also works in drives and directories. It works in Regedit and most programs as well.
I believe that Search is part of Explorer. AFAIK, there is no stand-alone executable for it.
Consider using Google or MSN Desktop Search. You can program a key for those.

what about a desktop shortcut directed to a good old batch file? You can set up the shortcut with a shortcut key if the mouse double-click is too much.

I goofed by using "regedit."A clearer explanation is: The program I am looking for opens with a little dog on the bottom that searches through a book while lthe program searches for the files.
Shoreguy: A batch file might be the answer if I knew how to create it to operate with a single key stroke. I could then enter that key into the progarm. Can you offer any help source to create the shortcut?

Thanks for the further clarification.
As BpB stated, F3 does open the Search command. You can read
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/crawford_september03.mspx
to further refine the look of it, but you'll still have to enter *.exe when all's said and done.
Creating the shortcut, you won't get a 'single keystroke'. Shortcut keys are ctrl-alt- and the key. Double-clicking on a desktop icon for a batch file will still be technically 2 keys depressed.

You can't do it. There is no executable to program the key to.
As I said, consider Desktop Search. It's faster too.
