I'm trying to install a second hard-drive that has been formatted as a boot drive. It is to go with an ATA66 drive, but is only an ATA33. When I slave it to the 66 drive, the computer won't boot. When I attach it to its own IDE slot, the computer thinks it is the boot drive, regardless of my bios setting. Any ideas ? Thank you in advance!!!

Have you tried setting the BIOS to boot to SCSI first. Not sure about others, but a Promise ATA66 Card needs to boot to SCSI.

Have you checked the jumpers on the HDD to make it master or slave?
Remember can't be 2 masters or 2 slaves in the same IDE channel.

you can run 2 bootable drives make the primary one the one you want to boot from the master on the primary IDE the other make the slave on the secoundary IDE if you have a CD-rom make it the master on the secoundary with the other hard drive
I've got 3 systems running like that right now so it should work for you http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
