Diskette Drives failure or Drives mismatch error????

I have a Bondwell 386SX Laptop.When I boot it up it gives me the error "Diskette Drives failure or Drives mismatch error".I have changed the CMOS to 1.4 Diskette Drive,but it keeps on giving me the error message.What else can I do??

make sure the cables are pluged in all the way and the right way if that does not work try a diff floppy as that one could be bad and or the ribbon.
