IBM 486SX question about HD

I took out the hd in the IBM to use it in another comp,but don't need it now,when I installed it back into the IBM ,it will not boot.I have tried running the quantum disk util,but error comes up saying that ,can't find hard drive on this machine.

can someone help me out ,how many wires suppose to hook,what are the jumpers for a 127mb quantum prodrive els.thanks for your time

I'm sure that Quantum's website would have some generic info if not exact specs on that drive...

make sure you have cable right way round strip to pin 1, also check that all pins are straight or they are there not bent or missing, also check as above re jumpers.

I don't know for sure but doesn't IBM need a setup disk for their old machines? You might try the IBM web site(ibm.com)they might be able to help.
