Before the "It's a Prey Ripoff" comments being, this is the original game upon which Portals is based:

Nuclear Monkey worked on Portals for Valve after vale had seen Narbacular Drop in action, Valve liked Portals so much, they bought it and most of nuclear monkey so im told.

Apparently Portal will appear as a separate puzzle game bundled into HL2:Ep2

OK, all I can say is WOW. Puts Prey to shame. I cannot WAIT to play this. I loved this element in Prey, but this looks to take it to a whole new level. And the stratagies would be endless... just think of the multiplayer!! Running up to someone and they unload a full clip at you, only to hit nothing but air because you throw up a portal and came up behind them to rape 'em with a knife blade to the back.

Now we just need a release date :D :t

puts prey to shame? prey is a totally different game than portal, you cant compare them really

I was comparing the portals in Prey to the Portals in that tech demo. And even if I was comparing Prey and HL2, HL2 is a much more fun game than Prey was IMO. Not saying Prey wasn't fun, it was... even though short.

I'd love to see the modding community kick in and make some good SP mods for Prey. I think there's a lot of room for improvement on the game that mods could offer.

I didn't really enjoy prey at all, in fact i stopped playing it after a couple of hours.

The walking on walls and portal stuff was great fun for a while, but essentially it was just Doom 3 in drag and i got rapidly bored with it

That's pretty much what I thought of it. It was worth playing for sure, but it felt exactly like Doom 3 to me, which I've played Doom 3 enough times and honestly couldn't play it again. But I won't put Prey down. Because of it other games may start using these portals more and more, and some fantastic games may come from it. I think I was just expecting too much out of Prey when I saw the E3 footage, and all the hype just kinda killed it.

You can get it when HL2 Episode 2 is released, which unfortunately seems to be pushed into 2007 now. :(

Yeah, well, it can take them as long as they need to, so long as it turns out better than Episode 1, I mean come on, they actually took stuff OUT of that one. :rolleyes:

Now it all comes out.. that is why I down played Prey when the demo came out... even more dark than Doom 3 and I just did not enjoy it. Spexial effects are always good and all ,but it takes a special skill to make a good display and gameplay that makes one want to just keep playing and playing.

Since i just did a fresh Install of my OS on Tuesday... I get the oppt'y of re-playing alot of my best games again. Games such as Doom 3 ( which is really a good game ,regardless of linear and darkness ) ,and HL2, and Quake 4 and or course F.E.A.R., which is my favorite of the lot. I still get off replaying MP 2 for its very splendid special effects and slo mo (the best other than FEAR )

I'll just replay like seven top games till I get shold of the latest HL2 sequel part and any other.

Any other top rated games we are all looking to see coming out sooner than later??

Jak... I just now got to watch the two trailers of 'Portal' and also 'Team Fortress 2'

All i can say is " Oh My God " What a giant leap in creativeness, ideas, and just plain awe inspiring.....

That has got ot be one of the coolest openings for Team Fortress 2 ...showing it like the old late fifties/early sixties spy genre. Thats what it reminded me of. Just plain SICK! , and i mean that in a positive way.

Portal is another new and fantastic idea and implementation. We all ask for new things and very rarely do they deliver, but this seems to be something entirely new as never been done or seen. Credos to Valve team. Maybe their just now getting real good at thier craft. That in itself is cause for jubilation....as nothing lets you down more than hype and no goods to back it up. LOL ;)

As soon as Portal and TF2 come out I'm gunna have to quit my job - No way could I do work when I could be playing them......
