While I'm waiting for my GeForce DDR, I borrowed a friend's Creative 3D Blaster Savage4 Pro 32MB. I downloaded Creative's latest (November) drivers, but some 3D applications (Quake3 included) crashed soon after starting. So I also downloaded Creative's latest--and the only available--Savage4 Flash BIOS (v1.02.4A). They claim it fixes crashes in some apps.

I reboot, hold F8, and start the DOS prompt (as the instructions said). Then I run the BIOS update program; it detects the Savage4 and uploads the new BIOS. Now the BIOS update program scans the BIOS, and gives me a load of corruption/error messages. Upon rebooting, the videocard doesn't do ANYTHING at all--it generates no image whatsoever.

This is what you get for using S3. Screwed 3X.

Please help. How can I get this videocard working again? Is there another BIOS? S3's webpage is utter ****, it gloats about their Diamond merger and contains no reference drivers or BIOS whatsoever (at least I couldn't find any). Thank you very much S3.

Please reply if you have any ideas how to deal with this.

The Savage 3D is AGP, correct? I wonder if you would be able to boot using a PCI Video card, and somehow re-flash the Savage 3D's BIOS with a different version. Not sure if
that would work but it might be worth a shot.

If the recovery does not work then the only method available is to send it in for the mfrg, to reflash it (had to do that with a matrox b/c I did not prepapre a recovery disc)
Will cost you a little
