I am about to receive my 3rd Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Modem Router this year, the first 2 having failed to connect to my ISP and given up the ghost when reset.

While NetGear support is very helpful and they replace them free I am not happy about the reliability of this box. Is this just my bad luck or do others have the same problem?

If I want to replace the box have you any recommendations for a reliable one?

My ideal spec would have an ADSL Modem, Mimo wireless, 8 port Gigabyte switch, and a print server. Does such a beast exist? D-Link have a wireless router with 4 gigabyte ports, but no modem and no printer port.

Thanks

Nev

The Combo Units usually include sub par devices.

The Modem is the same, but the Router and the wireless aspects are limited in their configuration capacities.

In addition if any of the sub devices need to be changed to another standard the whole thing has to be thrown away.

In matter of fact I do not see any advantage what so ever in a combo. Yeah it saves plastic box/boxes. However the only thing that needs to be out is the Wireless Antenna. So why should I care if I have in the closet one mediocre box instead of two three good devices.

The few combos that are available produced mainly because some ISPs prefer to give a combo to the client so that the DSL PPPOE can be controlled in hardware by default and thus save on costly tech support service.
