Printer problem help really bad can't print at all

I'd restalled my moded again becaused keep jupping ports like com 2 up com 3 and back to com 2 got that fix again but after that my printer can't detected my printer port LPT1 at al.l I'd restall the soft ware no luck at all like 10 times I'd have HP Deskjet 722c seris if that helps and won't even print out a test page too.

The test page you refer to; was that attempted from within windows or at the printer? If you havent run one from the printer I will tell you how. Disconnect the LPT cable from the computer. With the printer on press and hold the paper feed button for about 5 - 8 seconds and release. The printer should do a self test. If this works well then the problem is with the computer if not its the printer. From what you describe you may not have a good printer cable. Is it IEEE compliant? Has it all worked before?
