CrazyCrusher 07-11-2006, 03:06 PM It had to come sooner or later, but is it a rumor or real? http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/08/hdmi-port-coming-to-the-xbox-360/ Strawbs 07-11-2006, 04:00 PM It's more likely to be true, but I don't know why the author is whooping it up! HDMI is a "copy protection" enforcer. CrazyCrusher 07-11-2006, 05:35 PM eh? it is? http://www.pacificcable.com/HDMI_Tutorial.htm CrazyCrusher 07-11-2006, 05:42 PM guess it has something to do with it, http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=9423 Strawbs 07-11-2006, 07:46 PM I have installed HD cable boxes using component leads - rather than HDMI - to HDTV's and customers have later complained that they can't view certain content, all they see is a blank screen! The reason is that some programs\movies require the HDMI connection to decrypt the copy protection. What that basically means is: no HDMI = no HD. HDMI has its roots in Palladium\DRM (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/06/24/ms_drm_os_retagged_secure/) & was designed from the ground up to enforce copy protection! That Microsoft would not use something it helped to instigate (along with Intel & others) is unthinkable. This is not to say that HDMI is not more convienient, easier & neater than previous connection methods - Just that DRM is something that didn't have to be designed in & the way in which it is being introduced is underhand IMO. ATI RADEON 8500 07-11-2006, 07:59 PM Wait.. I recently bought 360. Now I have to buy another 360 to get HDMI capablity? No thanks. Unless it's an addon like Sega 32x ^^ Strawbs 07-11-2006, 08:41 PM Around a year from now just about all games will be rendered in HD! if you want to play the latest in HD res - you'll have no option other than HDMI. A plug-in for "alpha" 360's would make the most sense for MS, or they risk alienating early adoptors like yourself to the competition. SysOpt.com
