On my new sony PCG-F340 laptop for some reason that last couple of times that i've restarted or turned it on, the opening windows screen is windowed on the center of the screen. it is the same window and everything seems to be running the same, however the start up window is small... when i press escape to see the commands, they too are small.

also... i hold down F1 to access the bios.. and nothing... hmmmm any suggestions?

It's a screen resolution thing. When the laptop's LCD screen is at certain resolution it will shrink itself to that resolution and center. It is not like the normal desktop CRT monitors.

But don't worry there is a feature on all laptops that will enable you to stretch it, of course it would look a little blocky, but well... read the manual and look for screen stretching or something similar.

Yep...you have chosen a screen resolution that is not supported by the video drivers...

This could also be part of the problems you detailed in another post concerning the display problems you are having.

Read your manual to see what the supported resolution settings are for your display. Also update the display driver and your issues should go away.
