SuSE 10.1 install

Hello everyone....

Any one of you knows how to install it from hdd?

I remember doing it when i had 9.2 but i am completely lost with 10.1

it was pretty simple with RH 9 with the autoboot.bat file in dosutils.

I hope there is way to do it either with loadlin or maybe someother thing.

The system has no floppy drive or cd/dvd.... :confused:, no bb just plain dialup.

Any ideas....

In case anybody is in need of it i found out the solution for a hdd install.



Requirements - linld.com, image file - linux and initrd and ofcourse you need that suse iso image...lol

Steps involved are as follows:


1. Windows part


a. Use Daemon tools and load the image on to the virtual drive.


b. Copy all the contents of iso image to some directory on the harddrive. - I just dumped it as it is with the same file structure on to my empty D drive. ( hda1)


c. Reboot the system.



2. DOS part


a. Go into pure Dos mode "C:\".



b. Copy linux and initrd ( both found in boot\i386\loader) & linld.com to the root. - This is just to keep all the required files in the same directory, you can use the right paths for it if you want to run them from their default directories.



c. type "linld image=linux initrd=initrd" and thats it....install begins.


d. It will prompt for the CD/DVD first, use back and choose the normal settings as prompted and then start installation by choosin hdd install method, when asked for the directory, point to the appropriate drive, in my case it was hda1.



If anybody wants any screenshots of the steps i will gladly post....hmm i don't think that would be necessary, you guys are all smart as usual.

Thanks for the info, I just DL'd 10.1 for a DVD ISO, I was using Opera 9 on XP which has a built in Bit Torrent downloader
