I remember seeing an add for a modem that allowed you to answer incoming phone calls while you were online. I don't remember the brand. Does anyone know of such a modem ?

I got the answer. It's a modem from Actiontec called the "Call Waiting Modem".

Yes, and it is a "controler based" PCI modem that reportedly works well in, and includes drivers for, most major operating systems. Be careful of other Actiontec modems though.

There's a free software which can forward your incoming calls to a toll free number and then alert on your monitor. That doesn't require you to buy new hardware. You need contact with your phone company to enable busy forwarding function though($2-3/month)

Sorry, I forget the name and url of that software.

It's a free(?) service.

I picked up the Actiontek call-waiting modem a while back at Best Buy (wow, are they expensive) and I'm using it in my Linux box as the modem. It's an easy, painless installation. They do a good job of laying all the info out in the manual.

I don't have call-waiting and have no need to test that part of it, but it should work ok. My goal with it is to use it as my voicemail modem (regardless of what OS I choose to do that with).

It didn't fix my inability to connect at higher than 26.4 tho. /forum/frown.gif
