hi, im installing a new processor in my poot and need to upgrade the bios but im a bit confused.

in got an ECS mobo K7VZA v3.2 and the current bios installed is the Award 6.00PG and i need to flash the Award 3.7a.

i downloaded both the new bios and the winflash tool from the ECS site, here's the link;

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?DetailID=186&DetailName=BIOS&DetailDesc=K7VZA(V3.0)&MenuID=35&LanID=0

the problem is i dont know whether my old bios 6.00PG is capable of being upgrade with the winflash tool or can only use the old AWDflash.exe tool.

how can i find this out and are all the award flash tools the same? could i download it from anywhere?

Just try it. If it works, it works.

Me? I would use the DOS flasher. It's not exactly rocket science.

You are confusing the type of BIOS chips which the BIOS code stored on them.

Award is the maker of the chip. ECS wrote the code stored in the chip.

You have the correct version for your board, flash it using the supplied tool in the download.
