My external hard drive is shot, so I removed the disk and am wondering the best way to recover the information that is on it.

what do you mean your removed the disk? if you just removed the drive from the enclosure, then try connecting it directly to the IDE cable in your system.

And if you open up the harddrive and took the nice shiny disc out, its a goner.

I have a utility that has been known to recover data from hard drives that even the computer BIOS would not see.

Data recovery is very time consuming which means it is very expensive. I charge $30 per hours when I get requests for data recovery. I made the owner of a convience store very happy when I recovered the content of his My Documents folder.
